Grafting From a Crochet Provisional CO: Overcoming Fear of A Purl Ridge When Starting Project With A RS Row
I get comments and concerns about getting a purl ridge when grafting from a Crochet Provisional CO if the project is begun with a RS Row all the time; So I made a quick video to demonstrate that the instructions are correct and there is no need to worry!
This video is NOT a Tutorial!
This is a Visual Demonstration of why you need not have Fear of a Purl Ridge (~ When starting a project with a RS Row.)
It is OK to begin the Project Instructions with the RS - You will not get a purl ridge, I promise. Once the scrap yarn is removed from those first project yarn stitches (that are part of Prov. CO) they become “open”/live stitches ~ just loops on needles, not purls.
I hear you thinking “What?!! Wait, I've got a Row of Knits (as part of Prov. CO) followed by another Row of Knits, I should get a ridge. That can't be right!”
It is though. Because...
When knitting, any stitches you work are created in the row below the one currently being put on the needles; So the maneuvers with project yarn during prov CO are creating "stitches" in the scrap yarn portion = they are no longer stitches once the scrap yarn is unzipped.
